MEMPHIS – Penny Hardaway is making sure that his new look Tigers team will definitely be battle tested in the non conference this season.

    Even the preseason.

Hardaway and the Tigers have agreed to take on Alabama in a charity exhibition game in Huntsville on October 28th. That’s a preseason game against a Tide team that made it to the Final Four a season ago.

Then, in late November, how’s this for the opener in the Maui Invitational in Hawaii. The U of M is set to take on two-time national champion UConn, the team that beat ‘Bama on their way to the national title this year.

That according to CBS Sports Jon Rothstein.

It’s an eight team tournament in the islands with teams like Auburn, North Carolina and Michigan State in the field.

The full bracket and tip off times are expected to be announced on Tuesday.
