MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A theft was reported at the home of a Memphis legend earlier this month.

WREG uncovered reports of a porch pirate in East Memphis, only to learn that the victim is none other than University of Memphis men’s basketball coach Penny Hardaway.

Memphis Police say officers responded to the 400 block of Goodwyn Street on August 8.

Camera footage showed a male pushing a shopping cart filled with stolen packages. He was last seen pushing the cart at Goodwyn and Central.

WREG tracked down the police report for that theft and found Hardaway listed as the victim.

Property records show he bought the house in 2019 for $4.25 million.

Memphis Police have not provided much information besides the photos above and the fact that no arrests have been made yet.

So. WREG reached out to Hardaway who made it clear he wasn’t happy with the thief.

Hardaway told WREG that the shoes were “one-of-a-kind” foamposites and a “family and friend exclusive” that would not be sold in stores.

26 pairs of shoes were reportedly stolen.
