2 shot outside South Memphis event center

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are injured after an overnight shooting outside a South Memphis event venue, according to Memphis Police.

Officers responded to the shooting just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 560 South Parkway Street [The Spot], and 547 South Parkway Street [House of Soulz].

Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot and transported him to Methodist Central in critical condition.

A witness on the scene told police that the suspect and his girlfriend got into a fight inside the House of Soulz club and were forced to leave. The witness and others allegedly went outside to diffuse the situation.

The witness claimed the victim grabbed a gun from her car, but it is unclear if the victim used it or not.

A witness also reportedly told police that the suspect, who was standing in the parking lot of The Spot across the street from House of Soulz, said “I’ll shoot the club up,” then fired multiple shots toward the people standing outside.

The suspect got into a Ford F-150 and left the scene.

According to a police report, at 1:05 a.m., the suspect was dropped off at Regional One with a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown at this time.

Police say another victim came forward and informed them that before the shots rang out, the victim threatened to kill him.
