MPD: Man threatens to shoot 2 women, 8 kids

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested on Friday after Memphis Police say he threatened to shoot two women and eight children back in April.

On April 16, two women reported that Michael Taylor, one of the women’s ex-boyfriends, brandished a handgun and allegedly threatened to shoot them and eight children located in a residence.

Taylor, 37, got out of his vehicle armed with a black handgun and threatened to shoot at one of the women’s cars and allegedly fired two shots in the air.

The police report said that Taylor then walked up to the storm door and pointed the handgun at the women and the children in the residence.

As he allegedly threatened to shoot everyone inside, one of the women told all the children to go into the back room.

Taylor then began to beat on the storm door with the handgun and eventually shattered it. He reached his hand inside the broken storm door, opened it and made entry.

According to the witnesses, Taylor again threatened to shoot everyone inside if his ex-girlfriend did not talk to him.

The damage to the storm door was estimated at $200.

Both of the women were able to identify Taylor in a six-person lineup as the person responsible for threatening them and the children.

Taylor was charged with nine counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault/domestic violence, aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and domestic assault.
