COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. — A suspect in a possible domestic violence incident is dead after crashing into several vehicles, including a police car, in Collierville Saturday night.

Collierville Police responded to the scene at a home on East South Street near Mount Pleasant Road.

According to police, officers spotted a man wanted for a domestic violence incident that took place on August 30. They reportedly stopped the suspect’s truck and saw that the victim of the reported domestic violence incident was driving.

Police say the victim was able to get out of the truck. Once she got out, the suspect allegedly moved into the driver’s seat and took off in the truck, hitting a Collierville Police squad car.

Collierville Police say the suspect lost control and crashed into two vehicles that were parked in the home’s driveway.

Police say the suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

Neighbors tell WREG they heard a thunderous noise. When they stepped outside, they saw police drawing their weapons and were ordered back inside.

Collierville residents Blake and Maddie Reynolds described the chaotic scene.

“We heard just a loud boom and kind of felt the house shake almost like an earthquake,” said Blake. “We were towards the back of the house, so I kind of yelled and said ‘Was that you?’ or you know, what was that? We ran front to the front windows and peeked through the blinds, and puffs of smoke were in the air, and the cops were right behind them.”

“And then we were on the scene the whole time,” Maddie said. “Like they had it roped off almost immediately, do not cross this line, go inside. I was like, ‘Yes, sir.”

Collierville Police have not released the name of the suspect who died.
