More than 700,000 miles donated to Make-A-Wish during 8News’ Wishes in Flight Telethon

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — 8News viewers donated over 700,000 frequent flyer miles during the 2024 Wishes-in-Flight Telethon, which benefits Make-A-Wish of Greater Virginia.

During the telethon, which took place on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 705,105 miles were donated, 129,373 more than last year.

According to Make-A-Wish, which grants “wishes” for children with terminal illnesses, the miles help cover travel costs to send children and their families to get their wishes granted.

Donations of Delta, United, JetBlue and American Airlines miles or points can still be made by visiting Make-A-Wish’s website .
