HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) was recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best In-State Employers for 2024.

For the second year in a row, HCPS has received this acknowledgement of being one of America’s Best In-State Employers.

“We greatly value this award as we understand the critical role that all employees have in the success of our students,” said HCPS Superintendent Amy Cashwell. “We appreciate that each employee brings unique talents and perspectives that enrich our school community to create a brighter future for our students, so it’s terrific to be recognized for these efforts.”

The honorees were identified state-by-state, and included information like industry and staff recommendations, working conditions, salary, diversity and more.

According to HCPS, there are 7,000 staff members employed in its school system, serving close to 50,000 students.

This year, all HCPS employees received a 4.8% raise, with every employee’s salaries to have increased by 13% in two years. The school system also raised its minimum wage for support staff to $15 per hour last year and $25 per hour for bus drivers this year.
