RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond’s City Stadium, home to the Richmond Kickers and Richmond Ivy soccer clubs, is getting a new scoreboard that is 40% larger than its old one — which has been in use for 30 years.

According to the Kickers and Ivy’s ownership group, the new scoreboard measures 65.62 feet wide and 35.43 feet tall, with a 10mm LED display and nearly 2.2 million pixels. The score board will enhance the experience of games at the stadium with high-definition replays, animated graphics, fan cams and more.

“We are beyond thrilled to bring this larger-than-life videoboard to City Stadium for the Richmond community,” said Kickers and Ivy President and COO Camp Peery. “From an enhanced matchday experience for the Kickers and Ivy, to new partnership opportunities for local businesses and even more stadium events year-round, the benefits this upgrade brings are immense.”

The owners of the Kickers and Ivy has spend over $4 million on improvements to the 95-year-old City Stadium since 2019 and say they plan to invest even more in the coming years. The scoreboard is expected to be installed and ready for the Kickers’ home match on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
