    PHOTOS: Hanover first responders try to save horse entrapped in trailer

    HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A group of Hanover County first responders freed a horse entrapped in a trailer on Friday.

    According to a Facebook post from the Hanover County Fire-EMS department, units from several agencies were called to the 12300 block of Cedar Lane just after 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 for report of a large animal rescue.

    When first responders arrived, they found a male horse named “Lil Randy” entrapped in a horse trailer.

    According to fire officials, the effort to free Lil Randy involved the department’s Technical Rescue Team, county Animal Control and deputies with the county sheriff’s office. Units were also consulted by the Woodside Equine Clinic.

    By 2:18 p.m., Lil Randy was free of the trailer. Unfortunately, he later died as a result of his injuries.
