RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A family is grieving the loss of their loved one, Christina Stanberry, who was hit and killed by a driver earlier this week in Richmond.

The deadly crash took place around 5:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. Stanberry, a 36-year-old mother of three, was walking in the 3300 block of Hull Street when she was hit by a vehicle.

Officers found Stanberry unresponsive in the roadway. She was pronounced dead on the scene. As of now, no charges have been filed.

Amanda Bowers, Stanberry’s older sister, said they were close growing up. She shared memories of her younger sibling with 8News.

“She was so smart — she didn’t have to study for anything,” Bowers said. “I was always so jealous of her, because she never got in trouble and she never had to study for anything. And she made straight A’s. She was just gorgeous.”

Stanberry leaves behind her two sons, 16-year-old Christopher and 9-year-old Isaiah, as well as her 8-year-old daughter Ava.

Bowers told 8News that she intends to be there for her sister’s children.

“My husband and I will do anything and everything we can to make sure that your [Stanberry’s] babies are always taken care of and always loved — and that they always know you and their daddy,” Bowers said.

Bowers also shared a message with the community in the wake of this tragedy.

“Be mindful and be careful when you’re traveling these streets,” she said.

A celebration of Christina’s life will be held at Life Point Community Church in Front Royal, Virginia on Sept. 7.
