    City of Richmond launches public engagement for parks and recreation vision plan

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Richmond has launched a public engagement for its parks and recreation vision plan.

    The initiative is called Richmond INSPIRE, which stands for Imagining Neighborhood-Shaping Parks and Inclusive Recreation Experiences, and is a citywide vision plan for Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities.

    According to the City of Richmond, the initiative aims to develop a world-class system for parks and recreation that is equitable, resilient and adored by all residents.

    The Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities and the consultant team, Design Workshop, will soon start the public engagement phase through communication with residents, staff, partners, stakeholders and local experts to make certain of the vision of the departments aligns with the needs of the community.

    Through the process, workshops will take place across the city in all districts to engage broader participation and input. In addition, there will also be a virtual workshop on the website for online engagement options for those unable to attend in-person.
