    AdvanSix manufacturing facility in Chesterfield damaged by fire

    CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A facility in Chesterfield County where nylon resin is produced was damaged by a flash fire on Friday.

    According to Chesterfield County Fire and EMS, the fire started just before noon on Friday, Sept. 6 at an AdvanSix facility located at 4101 Bermuda Hundred Road in Chesterfield.

    According to AdvanSix’s website , the facility is one of the largest producers of nylon 6 resin, which is used to make carpet fiber, automobile parts and other products.

    Crews arrived at the facility and found that the fire originated on the fifth floor of one of the buildings, where contractors were working at the time. The crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes of arriving and it did not extend past the room where it started.

    No one was injured by the fire. The extent of the damage to the building is now known at this time. 8News has reached out to AdvanSix for more information on the incident.
