Wright County’s Parks & Recreation programs offer year-round opportunities for people of all ages to learn about the wonders of nature.

In the warmer months especially, many of the region’s hidden gems are highlighted during these programs, including locally at Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park here in Monticello.

“I would put our parks and programs up against any county in the state,” Wright County Parks & Recreation Director Ross Demant said.

“It has been a combination of generous donations to our parks system, previous parks directors who pushed us forward and county commissioners who recognized the benefit of parks and invested in them over the years. It takes all of them for us to have a parks system that we are really proud of.”

The programming for Wright County Parks & Rec runs throughout the year and organizers are mindful to create activities and events that include all ages — from preschoolers to adults.

“We have always tried to get better and offer more programs,” Demant said. “Sometimes it has been hit and miss. But we’re always trying. Our Halloween Bertram Bootacular, family photos with Santa and sled dog rides have been extremely popular programs that far exceeded our expectations. We’re always looking to find out what is popular and add another program that is successful year after year.”

A full list of the more than 20 programs being offered by Wright County Parks & Recreation over the remainder of the spring season and the summer is available online at www.co.wright.mn.us/1248/Programs.
