STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) – The city of Statesboro is seeing more development than ever, with dozens of projects being submitted.

“We are a fast-moving city when it comes to growth,” said Statesboro’s planning and housing administrator, Justin Williams.

He says so far there are 3,790 housing units approved within the city.

“It’s great because, for a long time, no one was building in Statesboro,” said Williams.

He says there’s development happening in every corner of the city, and in sectors that were lacking, like housing for students and workforce and even some high-end options.

“We’re in a place where the development environment is so different here in Statesboro, so people are trying to find whatever’s available that makes sense,” said Williams.

Not to become a city of renters, he says there’s a healthy mix of renting and buying happening. He says before anything can be built though, developers must do a traffic study to see their effect on the roads.

“We have a lot that we request of the developer and we are very adamant about ensuring that they provide what they need to provide so that we don’t have these traffic issues,” said Williams.

The city has an interactive map where you can see each of the developments that are being worked on right now on their website.
