BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – Communications provider Hargray has donated 1,100 backpacks and school supplies at over a dozen back-to-school events in Georgia and South Carolina.

Supplies were selected according to the teachers’ wish lists, and Hargray says the donations were made “to help ensure every child starts the school year with the tools needed for academic success.”

This large donation joins the company’s continuing efforts to aid and enhance schools in the region with its Charitable Giving Fund, Teacher of the Month award co-sponsorships with local radio stations and free live streaming of high school athletics.

“River Ridge Academy is thankful to have a partner like Hargray that truly cares about its communities and the people it serves,” said River Ridge Academy Principal Brian Ryman. “With Hargray’s kind donation, we were able to assist many students and families in need.”

Hargray will be rebranding to Sparklight this fall and is owned by Cable One, Inc. It has been providing Gigabit speeds, advanced Wi-Fi and video for more than 30 years, serving more than 1 million customers across 24 states.
