    GBI investigating officer involved shooting in Dodge County

    DODGE COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – At the request of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened in Eastman on Monday.

    According to the GBI, 58-year-old Kim Lawong Crocker of Eastman was shot and killed in the incident. One officer was shot and injured.

    GBI says the preliminary investigation indicates on Monday, August 27, around about 9:40 a.m., police received a 911 call regarding livestock/animals in the roadway at Dodge Ave. and Mt. Moriah St.

    The responding deputy was attempting to contact residents that lived at an address in the 5000 block of Dodge Ave.

    Authorities say when the deputy arrived, Crocker met the deputy at the corner of the home with a firearm. The deputy and Crocker exchanged gunfire. The deputy was shot in the arm during the shooting and taken to a hospital for treatment. Crocker was pronounced dead on the scene.
