ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Two people were injured Sunday night after a car crashed into a local Subway in Anderson County.

The Belton Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched to the crash on Anderson Street shortly after 11 p.m. Upon arrival, crews saw the car had hit the restaurant.

Both victims were evacuated from the restaurant while the building continued to shift from the damage according to first responders. One person was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Both of their conditions remain unknown at this time.

Officials attempted to support the building with props to prevent it from collapsing but realized additional manpower and equipment were needed. Multiple agencies from Greenville City & County responded with lumber and other items to assist with the facility.

Crews worked through the night to build shoring systems to stop the Subway from collapsing, firefighters said. The building was secured and officials are in contact with the owner to determine the repair of the business.

Details of what may have led to the crash have not been released.

The crash remains under investigation according to the Belton FD.
