CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person has been arrested after deputies said she broke into a Gaffney medical practice she worked for Tuesday morning.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a doctors’ office located on Professional Park off North Limestone street at around 7:45 a.m.

At the practice deputies said they found an open door and found a drawer, which had been removed from the office, in the parking lot.

The drawer which had been taken sometimes contained cash, deputies said. The rest of the cabinet the door was removed from was located near Limestone Street and Lockhart Lane.

Investigators have arrested Jodi Marie Horton, 49, of Gaffney for 3rd degree burglary as part of their investigation. The sheriff’s office said Horton had been an employee at the office.

The burglary is under investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The building where the burglary happened is owned by the mayor of Gaffney, Dr. Randy Moss.

Moss is headed to a runoff election on August 27 against Gaffney Middle School Principal Lyman Dawkins III to determine who will be the next mayor of Gaffney.
