2 juveniles arrested on gun charges in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The Asheville Police Department arrested two juveniles on gun charges Thursday evening in an apartment complex.

Officers were on the scene of Hillcrest Apartments around 6:15 p.m. in reference to a crime investigation. Police tried to make contact with two juveniles in the area but the individuals attempted to flee on foot.

Both juveniles were located and apprehended without incident, officers said.

While searching the suspects, police found three guns, 12 grams of fentanyl and $7,123 in cash.

Police charged both individuals with the following:

• Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession
• Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II
• Possession of Handgun by a Minor
• Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction
• Possession of Handgun by a Minor
• Resist, Delay, Obstruct

Officers said the arrestees’ names would not be released due to the individuals being juveniles. Both individuals have been placed in the custody of the NC Department of Juvenile Justice.
