Man wanted in death of missing Rutherford Co. man

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — A man reported missing weeks ago in Rutherford County has turned up dead, and deputies are searching for the suspect.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Terry Wayne Brown was reported missing from the Union Mills area on August 16.

Investigators looked into Brown’s disappearance and eventually found his remains buried at a property in Union Mills.

Deputies said the investigation has become a murder investigation, though information is limited at this time.

Officials have an first-degree murder warrant for Jerry Wayne Martin, also known as Doodle.

Martin is at large considered armed and dangerous by deputies.
