    Diondre Overton, Greensboro native and former Clemson wide receiver shot, killed at party

    GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Diondre Overton, a former football player for the Clemson University Tigers, has died. He was 26.

    Overton was a wide receiver and cornerback at Page High School before attending Clemson. Throughout his career there, he scored seven touchdowns, rushed 777 yards and received 52 receptions. He averaged 14.9 receptions, according to ESPN .

    According to a press release from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a loud party and noise disturbance at the 3200 block of Spring Mill Road. Deputies then learned of a shooting at the scene.

    Overton was identified as the shooting victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    GCSO said the incident is isolated. A homicide investigation is active and ongoing.
