    Bridge maintenance, surface treatment projects planned in Elk County

    ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced upcoming maintenance in Elk County for the week of May 27.

    PennDOT has bridge maintenance and cleaning along with surface treatment plans for multiple roads in Elk County.

    Bridge maintenance and cleaning

    • Route 2010 (Eschbach Road) in St. Marys between Graphite and Eschley roads. Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, May 29. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1008 (Creek Road) in St. Marys near North Fork and Schoolhouse roads. Wednesday, May 29, through Friday, May 31. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

    The maintenance will help extend the life of the bridges.

    Surface treatment

    • Route 2008 (Michael Street) in St. Marys between Airport and Lecker roads. Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, May 29. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1005 (Filmore Road) in St. Marys. Tuesday, May 28. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1007 (Speer Street) in St. Marys. Tuesday, May 28. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 2010 (Eschbach Road) in St. Marys near the intersection with Lecker Road. Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, May 29. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 120 (Bucktail Trail Highway) in St. Marys from John Street to the Elk-Cameron County line. Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, May 29. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1003 (Washington Street) in St. Marys from Fourth Street to Route 1001 (St. Marys Road). Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1008 (Woodland-West Creek Road) in St. Marys between Windfall Road and the Elk-Cameron County line. Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.
    • Route 1002 (Taft Road) in St. Marys. Friday, May 31. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

    These projects are a reservation strategy to help maintain low-traffic-volume roads for five to seven years. This strategy is also used on high-volume roads to extend pavement life between resurfacing.

    These projects are subject to change due to weather conditions, emergencies and other unforeseen interruptions.

    511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
