JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Efforts to find a buyer for the vacant former Ideal Market in downtown Johnstown, along with a manager for the nearby Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center have become connected.

The Johnstown City Council voted Wednesday to give the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority permission to sell the building, at 339 Walnut St. to Famous Supply, a family-owned, Ohio-based HVAC business, according to our media partners at the Tribune-Democract.

The board is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to finalize the $215,000 sale that would include the company making $800,000 in capital improvements.

The agreement also calls for allowing the Cambria County War Memorial Authority to have access to the property’s parking lot during designed hours.

Negotiations are also in the final stage for the authority to become the operator of the city-owned conference center. If both plans are completed, then the arrangement would allow the authority to use the parking lot during events at 1st Summit Arena, which is managed by ASM Global and the FJPCC.
