ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) – The Altoona Curve business model promotes family fun, baseball and entertainment. On Thursday’s game against Bowie, all of those boxes were checked.

The ceremonial first pitch came from former Steeler great Ike Taylor and the last pitch resulted in a walk-off home run by Jase Bowen to give the Curve a 4-2 win.

“Put a good swing on and thank the Lord went over the fence,” Bowen smiled. “(We like to) celebrate (with) the home crowd, they don’t to see us lose so we’re doing everything we can to win.”

Before Thursday’s win, Altoona lost nine of its previous 10 games and struggled to muster multiple runs against Bowie this series.

“The pitchers have been battling all week and we’ve been giving them no run support,” Bowen said. “It feels good to finally give them runs.”

Taylor, who won two Super Bowls with Pittsburgh, was in Altoona for a meet and greet with fans.

“For me to be in this position, then you just get to hit different avenues. You get you get to come to Altoona and throw the first pitch, I’m just thankful for that,” Taylor said.
