Sportsbeat Preview: McCort-Carroll Crushers

Hollidaysburg (WTAJ) — The McCort-Carroll era of Crushers football hasn’t been as smooth as the storied programs would hope.

Since coming together in 2021, the Crushers are just 8-22, still, it’s an important pairing that allows the team to grow outside the Friday night lights.

“JV is as vital as ever,” Tim Hornick said “Guy you a lot of guys experience and kids need experience. And they may not be a Friday guys yet, but if you can get them those Monday reps, it goes a long way.”

The Crushers will seek their first winning record as a co-op and bring a lot back. Offensive coordinator Tim Hornick likes what the Crushers return along the offensive line, calling the group “special.” The team also returns leading rusher and quarterback Garrett Farabaugh.

McCort remains relatively young with just two seniors, but are clear that their youth doesn’t equate to inexperienced.

“A lot of these guys have seen the field in their freshman and sophomore year, which at the time makes it tough,” Hornick said. “Being a 13, 14 yea-old kid going up against 18 year old seniors. But, going into their junior year. I’d call it experience now.”
