EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Thursday was the first day of school for hundreds of students in our area. For elementary students in the Central Cambria School District, it was the start of a recent consolidation plan.

In May, the school board decided to transition students out of Jackson Elementary School.

“We have some changes this year at Central Cambria that our students are excited about. All of our students in grades three through five are together on the campus here at Cambria Elementary. A lot of collaboration. Kids are excited,” Jason Moore, Superintendent of the district said.

Moore said that so far it has been smooth sailing for the start of the year.

“The best thing to do is just have kids coming to school ready to learn, you know, getting, getting a good night’s sleep and support them. If there’s homework, help them out. But other than that, our teachers do a great job and they’re looking forward to having their new students this year,” Moore said.
