BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Blair County DUI Task Force will be conducting multiple checkpoints over the next week.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, the task force will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and “cops in shops,” where officers in either uniform or regular clothes will be going into six-pack stores in an attempt to deter liquor law violations.

The task force reminds the community to:

    • Don’t drink and drive
    • Know if your prescription medication affects your driving ability
    • Wear your seatbelts
    • Allow enough driving time so that you are not rushed
    • Be a defensive driver. Be alert to all traffic, pedestrians and potential hazards

If a DUI doesn’t cost a driver their life, it will most certainly cost them their wallet. On top of the financial aspects, drivers could also be called for court appearances, community service requirements or jail time.
