STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – State College leaders and residents joined together to highlight their ongoing support for racial justice in their community on Thursday.

It was part of the annual ‘March on Washington’ event, which demonstrates the power the people have to fight racism when they work together. Mayor Ezra Nanes said the borough is making great strides in helping minority groups, and to always keep basic human dignity in mind when interacting with anyone.

“Among the essential elements of human dignity are acceptance of identity, acknowledgment, recognition, inclusion, safety, fairness and independence,” Nanes said.

Nanes says that the ideals of Martin Luther King Jr. are still alive and well in State College.
