BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Dog owners took one last dip into summer with a puppy pool party.

The Doggie Dip Days at Hershberger Memorial Pool in Martinsburg opened their doors Saturday to dog owners to “wrap up” the dog days of summer. The owners heard about the event in a group chat with other dog owners and decided to come out.

Owners payed $5 to partake in the day’s events, which mainly consisted of dogs socializing with one another by the water. It teaches the canines how to interact with one another and with other humans in a confined, yet open space.

“There are a lot of dogs that are kept at home,” Billie Kearney, a pet owner at the event said. “They aren’t social when they get out, and then they get a little aggressive. It needs a little learning to work with each other, even if someone takes their toy.”

Not only do the dogs learn to properly socialize in a public setting, but to children as well.

“They get to learn that dogs are great and they’re not aggressive,” Pat Barry, another dog owner said.
