NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police arrest a man in connection with a bomb threat and scare Friday morning.

Police received reports of a man, later identified as Robert Cardone, 22, throwing pipe-shaped items in the alley near the Federal Court House on Orange Street.

Responding investigators found the objects hidden behind benches and in bushes.

Three of these bomb-looking items were found in total.

Area buildings were evacuated or ordered to shelter in place.

The bomb squad blew up one of the items as a test but determined it wasn't necessary to destroy the other two items.

Cardone was found on nearby Whalley Avenue.

He is being charged with first-degree breach of peace, first-degree criminal trespass, and third-degree criminal mischief.

    Bond is $500,000.
