NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Housing projects in low and moderate-income renters in Hamden, Hartford, New Haven, Rocky Hill and Torrington will receive millions of dollars from the state, the Connecticut Department of Housing announced on Thursday.

Of the 478 units that will receive the funds, 439 are considered affordable.

The state will is offering about $16.7 million in loans for the projects, and an extra $35.1 million in financing. It’s expected the funds will create more than $15.7 million in private investments, according to the department.

Of the new units, 44 are the first projects to be funded by the Build for CT program.

The following projects will receive the funds:

    • Hamden, Mt. Carmel Congregate
    • Hartford, Village at Park River
    • New Haven, McConaughy Terrace and Winchester Green
    • Torrington, Northside Terrace
    • Rocky Hill, Kelson Row
