East Hartford sees influx of fake license plates

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — You might want to think twice before you fake your plates.

East Hartford police have seen a bump in the number of fake license plates and registrations in the area.

“Here is a PSA for residents: When buying used cars from CT dealerships, ensure that you receive a temporary registration along with the necessary paperwork,” the police department posted on Facebook. “Additionally, you should only obtain your insurance information directly from the insurance company or a reputable insurance broker.”

A picture of the seized stash includes faux paper registrations from New Jersey, California, Vermont, Texas and other states.
