One dead and one critically injured in Bridgeport homicide

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after an early morning shooting in Bridgeport.

The Bridgeport Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating a homicide after a ShotSpotter notification alerted officers to the intersection of Stratford and Carroll Avenues.

At the scene, witnesses told officers that multiple rounds of gunfire occurred, resulting in two people being shot. That is when officers found a deceased 28-year-old woman lying on the sidewalk of 1365 Stratford Ave.

The identification of the deceased female is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

A few minutes later, officials were informed that the second gunshot victim arrived at a hospital with several gunshot wounds. The victim is a 30-year-old man who is in critical condition.

Bridgeport police say multiple people were involved in this shooting. At this time, no information on suspects or arrests has been shared.
