MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – It was a big day in Moundsville as the ribbon was officially cut for the new facility focused on the Renner Behavioral Health Program, in partnership with the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.

It’s a brand new space for those seeking mental health treatment.

With this state-of-the-art building, they’re hoping to provide a warm welcome for anyone who needs it, and to decrease the stigma of getting mental health treatment.

They say it’s something that will really benefit the local community.

“It’s not something that there’s always an outward sign of. You know, if your leg hurts and your knee hurts, you might have a limp. You can be suffering on the inside and not know it. So we hope that having a building like this and in this beautiful location will help people feel comfortable about reaching out and getting help.”

Tony Martinelli – Chief Operating Officer, WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital

“So this allows us to do, to expand our services, do some group therapy, which is always, always beneficial. And so I’m excited about having it and having it be an anchor for our regional approach to how we want to try to tackle behavioral health needs.”

Douglass Harrison – President, WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital

“We know that behavioral health is something much needed in not only in our area but in all areas around the country and in West Virginia. We also know that sometimes people that have these problems are reluctant to bring them to the forefront. But we’re hoping now that with a place like this that they come in and they talk about their problems and they can get much needed help.”

Mike Ferro – Marshall County Commissioner President

All ages are welcome to the facility.

Everyone expressed their gratitude to the Renner Foundation lending such a hefty helping hand, and helping bring this project to fruition.
