West Virginia offers outdoor workshop tailored for women

TUCKER COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — The West Virginia Department of Natural Resources is offering a weekend workshop with a variety of outdoor classes for women.

The Becoming an Outdoors Woman fall workshop will be held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park from September 13 to 15.

WVDNR says the workshop is designed to introduce women to hunting, fishing, and other various outdoor activities in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The BOW experience is tailored for beginners, but WVDNR says it is open to all skill levels. It is more than just a getaway; it’s an opportunity to foster confidence and skills in outdoor pursuits.

Expert wildlife resource staff and law enforcement will teach participants how to hunt, fish, and do a variety of other outdoor activities.

Workshop organizers say the registration fee covers the class, meals, and all of the needed materials and equipment. A lodging package for Friday and Saturday nights is also available for an additional fee.

Organizers say to be prepared for unpredictable weather by packing layered wool clothing and rain gear.
