    Dolly Day celebrates the power of reading with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

    MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — Friday, August 9, is Dolly Day, and to celebrate, Marshall County Schools and the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library have teamed up to participate in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

    The Imagination Library sends a free book to families throughout not only Marshall County, but the entire country with children ages birth to five.

    Superintendent Shelby Haines discusses the importance of early literacy as she reads Dolly Parton’s book I Am a Rainbow to a group of young children.

    “We just know that the sooner we can get words in the hands of children, that increase their language skills, increases their comprehension, and increases their reading ability.”
