GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Three Guernsey County brothers will serve a combined 30 years in prison after confessing to raping a female victim multiple times since she was a child.
According to the Guernsey County Sheriff and Prosecutor’s Offices , officials on June 20, 2024 a Senacaville woman reported to the sheriff’s office that she sexually assaulted multiple times by three men that she knew.
Investigators say the sexual assaults began almost a decade ago when the victim was a juvenile.
Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Detectives were called in to assist with the investigation, bringing all three male suspects in to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Officials say detectives were able to secure confessions from all three men who were then booked in the Guernsey County jail.
On June 24, officials say Jonathan Vaughn, Micah Vaughn, and Caleb Vaughn were all charged with one count of Rape in the Cambridge Municipal Court.
Each case was bound over to the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on July 3, but prior to the case reaching the Grand Jury, officials say all three defendants agreed to be prosecuted by the way of Bill of Information.
According to officials, this agreement resulted in the Vaughn brothers being sentenced in the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on August 7, 2024 to a combined mandatory 30-year sentence. The length of the sentences was specifically requested and approved by the victim.
“A mandatory sentence in Ohio law means that these offenders will serve each and every day of their sentences. None of them are ever going to be eligible for early release.” said Guernsey County Prosecutor Lindsey Angler.
“Once again, our Deputies and Detectives have proven to the community that no matter how long ago the crime occurred, the passage of time doesn’t make any criminal safe.” declared Lt. Bill Patterson of the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office. “Our commitment to justice doesn’t end.”
In addition to their stated prison terms, each of the brothers will also be required to register as Tier III sex offenders for the rest of their lives.
