Nobody hates the term ‘complacency’ like a HS Football Coach.

Following a 9-3 campaign at Harrison Central, Anthony Hayes is using a different word to keep his guys in-line.

“Everyone think discipline is a punishment, no discipline deters the need for punishment, so for us if we can’t be disciplined on the field or within our lives then those 2 things work together if you can’t get out of bed in the morning you’re not going to be a very good football player, and if you can’t stay onsides in practice you’re probably going to show up for work late.”

Harrison’s more disciplined unit would be the skill guys, who bring almost everyone back in the backfield and at receiver. Headlined by Brady Hyer at Quarterback, the rushing and receiving efforts will be lead by Michael Quito and Cam McAfee. Aside from them, Kayne Dunkle & Chaz Culberson return out wide, with Jayce Hython & Michael Stock at Tight End.

“I think the big thing for our skill guys is that these guys have played 30+ games at the varsity level, and multiple positions.”

On the other side, those same guys make up the Huskies strongest unit: their secondary. After totaling 16 interceptions last season, the no-fly-zone should save their coach some much needed sleep this fall.

“That gives us a little peace of mind knowing we got those guys to take care of the back-end there, but again football stops and starts up front on the line of scrimmage whether that’s offense or defense.”

The big question mark right now in Cadiz is no secret: Can the incoming lineman step-up? The offensive front retains just 1 true starter in Landon Thomas, but also brings back Jaden Harris & Dylan Walters who’ve played their fair share of snaps as well.

“I think probably the biggest problem is getting kids who played a little bit or not at all, getting them acclimated to varsity speed, that’s been the most difficult thing, were gonna throw those kids in the fire were gonna coach the heck out of them, I don’t see why we won’t improve and be ready for Week 1.”

Claymont will find out about the new-look offensive line on August 23rd when the Huskies hit the road for Week 1
