    Barnesville Shamrocks: 2024 High School Football Preview

    The winning streak for the Shamrocks goes back farther than just the last two seasons, they enter this year on a 26-game regular season win streak.

    The winning ways should continue for the Rocks this season with a number of key players returning. Starting at quarterback with Casey Carpenter he threw for more than 2,300 yards with 30 touchdowns earning first-team all-Ohio and Eastern District offensive player of the year.

    Another strength is along the line with six players returning that started games last year, Salvador Almaraz, Christian Hannahs, Marshall Meade, Braden Butler, Luke Taylor , Dillon Lucas and Gavin Morris. With Bradley McIntire at tight end. In the backfield they will three backs Trey Toliver, Kolby Jones and Hines Ford. Receivers will include Camden Carpenter, Colt Carpenter, Eli Messenger and Jack Armstrong. Casey Carpenter really likes what he has in front of him.

    “Big linemen , we got some big linemen that we can be behind of and we can run the ball throw throw the ball anytime we want.”

    Defensively you will see many of the same faces This unit will be led by Ford at middle linebacker a first team all-state player and the eastern district defensive player of the year last season. Others that will see time on defense Blake Kirk at tackle, Logan Craker at linebacker, with Evan Carpenter and Joel Detling in the defensive backfield.

    “In the middle we feel good it’s more the back end and the outside edges where we’ve got to develop some guys. I’m really excited with how some guys are stepping up I think we are going to be strong in the middle we’ve just got to keep developing out on the edges.”

    The Rocks will try for their 27th straight regular-season win , when they visit Fort Frye on the 23rd
