Unified Bank breaks ground on new banking center at former buffet location in Wheeling

Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF) Unified Bank celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for their new banking center in Woodsdale.

It will be an 8,000-square-foot building serving as a regional hub for retail and commercial banking.

The building will have two stories, with retail banking services located on the first floor, and commercial banking on the second.

There will also be a three-lane drive-through which will be separate from the main building and have its own entrance and exit from Leatherwood Lane, off National Road.

“We are just extremely excited to be here today, for the groundbreaking of our new Unified Banking center, which will be number nineteen for our company. It’s been a long process, we’ve been looking to come to the Friendly City for years and we’ve been in the valley for over a hundred years, since 1902. Over the years, we’ve developed a nice customer base here in Wheeling. They’ve always asked us to build a brick and mortar over here, but it was just matter of finding the right location.”

With a full-service banking center already in Moundsville, the new center in Wheeling will be the second facility in West Virginia.

Unified has partnered with Solidus, a banking industry contractor, to design a captivating building and oversee the construction.

According to Unified Bank President and CEO Scott Everson, the new building is in a floodplain, which added some challenges and extra costs to the project.

However, it is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025.
