After Malachi Stromile’s graduation, Weir was left looking for a new quarterback. They found their answer over at Steubenville in transfer Lucas McAllister, who just so happens to be cousins with one of their captains.

“I’ve been working with him ever since we were younger because we came up together, we was here in middle school and then left going into high school, I was sitting there begging him to come back, and finally senior year he finally did, so we’ll see what we can do, hopefully something special.”

“We want someone with the moxy and will and want-to to be a leader, and to get Lucas in here, and to see him come in and take the leadership role.”

    Frank Sisinni- Head Coach

Along with that Moxy, McAllister blends a big arm with athletism, and will use that to find his cousin Damir Mowder quite often this season.

“It’s sad you know, to put on the Weir High Helmet for one last year, it’s been a long 4 years we’ve had some ups and downs, freshman year we were 2-6, sophomore year 7-3, and then last year 11-2, and then coming out this year with a whole different team will be different but still looking for the same level of success.”

The Red Riders also bring back weapons like Thomas Davidson at Running back and Daniel Howland at Tight End.

Up front, Weir returns 2 starters in Noah McLain and Johnny Davis.

On the other side of the ball, Logan Dawson is back at Linebacker, and Ben howard will come back to kick.

So far, the off-season has been smooth sailing. But with plenty of new faces, this team must grow up fast.

“The big concern has been, what’re we gonna see, as the saying goes, once the bullets start flying on a friday night.”

    Frank Sisinni- Head Coach

SIsinni will get his answer August 30th, when the Red Riders head out to Oak Glen for some Friday Night Football
