WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — The West Liberty University Choir Program is seeking members to join its volunteer Community Choir to perform Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass during a Friday, November 15 concert at Wheeling’s Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church.

While the Gospel Mass is a sacred work, choir officials say it is open to anyone who wants to share in an uplifting musical celebration with the community.

The concert will also feature students presenting the premiering work of Matthew Fossa, a prolific composer and Principal Oboist for the Pensacola (Florida) Symphony Orchestra.

School officials invite those interested to attend an initial meeting taking place 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, September 9 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church.

They say subsequent rehearsals will be held every Monday at the same time through November 11.

School officials say music reading is helpful but not required.

Those who cannot make the meeting but are still interested in joining should contact West Liberty University Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Douglas McCall, at douglas.mccall@westliberty.edu or 304-336-8097 for details.
