BRIDGETON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – People can step back in time this weekend at the Bridgeton Civil War Days.

The event takes place Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Bridgeton.

Actors portraying soldiers will do drills in the mornings and then stage a battle both afternoons. There will also be an actor portraying President Abraham Lincoln who attendees can meet and ask questions about that period in history.

Organizer Celia Case said this event provides an opportunity for children to learn about the Civil War, as well as how people lived back then because there will be actors portraying civilians as well.

“They’ll be doing cooking demos outside. We’ll have a spinner. I’ll have two blacksmiths, a rope maker, a leather worker, and some other historic crafts in the 1878 barn,” Case said.

There will also be vendors and food available. The event has free admission and free parking.

Case discussed the event on WTWO at 6:30 Wednesday. You can view the full interview below.
