    Multiple Drug arrests in Clay County

    CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that three men were recently arrested on meth related charges.

    The release stated that these were the results of lengthy narcotics investigations.

    The release states that the first man arrested was James Shepard, 47, of Centerpoint, Indiana. He was found at a home in Brazil, Indiana, and was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Clay County Jail. He was initially charged with dealing methamphetamines and possession of methamphetamines a level four and level six felony respectively. The release also states that upon the actual arrest deputies and detectives located additional items including meth and paraphernalia that led to a C misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia and another level 5 felony of possession of methamphetamines. Shepard is being held on a $2,500 bond for the initial charges and a $10,000 bond with no 10% for the additional charges.

    The release also noted the arrest of John F. Crafton Jr., 53, of Brazil, Indiana. Crafton was also found at a Brazil home and arrested and taken to Clay County Jail. The release states that his warrant was for a level four felony of dealing methamphetamine, and a level six felony of possession of methamphetamines. The officers had also applied for a search warrant for the arrest and found additional items that led to a maintaining a common nuisance level six felony charge, possession of methamphetamine level six felony charge, and possession of paraphernalia C misdemeanor charge according to the release. Crafton’s bond is currently at $2,500 as well for initial charges and another $7,000 bond with 10% for the additional charges.

    The final arrest was Woodrow W. Hill, 53, of Brazil, Indiana. The release states that Hill was driving near Posey Township when officers conducted a traffic stop. Hill was arrested and charged with a level four felony of dealing methamphetamine and a level six felony of possession of methamphetamines. Hill is being held on a $25,000 bond with 10%.
