    Bear firearm season set to begin soon for several counties

    GHENT, WV (WVNS) — Bear firearm season for several counties begins on August 31, 2024.

    The largest fish species in West Virginia is of ‘conservation concern’

    These counties include Logan, McDowell, Mingo, and Wyoming.

    Hunters are allowed one bear per day during the season and two bears as a whole including for archery and crossbow seasons.

    Bows and crossbows can be substituted for firearms. Hunters must have a valid West Virginia hunting license unless they are hunting on their own property.

    Bear firearm season for these counties ends on September 8, 2024.
