BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — The annual Beaver-Graham week kicked off this past Saturday with the Two Virginias 5K Challenge.

The run marked the start of a full week of fun activities before the big game on August 30, 2024. All of these activities mean an influx of people into the area of the two Bluefields.

Jeff Disibbio, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of the two Virginias, said the economic impact this rivalry game has on the area is overwhelming.

“As you can imagine, introducing 20 to 30 thousand new people to the area during the weekend, there’s tremendous potential for growth. Usually, the grocery stores are all packed, all the restaurants are filled, people want to get together and hangout for the rest of the weekend,” explained Disibbio.

Beaver-Graham week is also hosting a Little Big Game on August 27th, 2024. It is a new event for the 2024 year. The Little Big Game will feature three games between students of both Bluefields.

There are three categories kids ages 5 through 12 will be sorted into based on age. All games will be at Mitchell Stadium and will each last around an hour.
