    Learning event to be held at the Mercer County Technical Education Center for Mercer County middle school students

    MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — Students from middle schools in Mercer County will be able to participate in a learning event at the Mercer County Technical Education Center towards the end of September 2024.

    According to a press release, seventh and eighth students from middle schools in Mercer County will be able to participate in a regional Explore Academy held by Explore the New Manufacturing at the Mercer County Technical Education Center.

    Concord University announces that enrollment continues to increase

    The press release stated that the event, where students will receive hands-on learning opportunities, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024.

    Seventh and eighth graders from that will be able to participate in the event include students from:

    • Bluefield Middle School
    • Princeton Middle School
    • Glenwood Middle School
    • PikeView Middle School
    • Montcalm High School

    Manufacturers participating in the event will include:

    • Conn-Weld Industries, LLC
    • Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc.
    • Timken Power Systems/Smith Services
    Tazewell County Career and Technical Center to offer free FANUC robot operator certification courses

    According to the press release, there will be three 30-minute labs that students will be able to participate in to learn about different manufacturing aspects that include research and development, operations, quality control, environmental health and safety, and more.

    The press release stated that students will get a tour of the Mercer County Technical Education Center, a lunch for the students participating will be offered by Conn-Weld Industries, LLC, and a 20-minute challenge will be given at the end of the say where the students can work as a team.
