    Two charged in suspicious death of 6-year-old Madison Heights boy

    MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) A man and woman have been charged in connection to the suspicious death of a six-year-old child in Madison Heights.

    Madison Heights Police said they, along with Madison Heights Fire Department, were called to a mobile home community on Dequindre at 10 Mile on Tuesday afternoon (7/30) for a little boy not breathing. When they arrived, they found the child unresponsive with “several physical injuries.”

    The child was rushed to Ascension Oakland-Macomb Hospital, and then to Children’s Hospital where he died from his injuries.

    Police arrested Daniel Giachina and Elaina Jennings.

    The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office has charged Giachina with: Possession of a Firearms by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony; Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony; Possession of Ammunition By A Felon, a 5-year felony; and Lying to A Peace Officer, a 2-year misdemeanor.

    Elaina Jennings has been charged with Lying to a Peace Officer.

    WXYZ reports that Jennings was the child's mother and Giachina, the mother's boyfriend; however, authorities have not confirmed this.

    Madison Heights Police said they are continuing to investigate the death of the child and will report their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
