Consistent rainfall today has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch through 7 p.m.

WWL-TV meteorologist Alexa Trischler tells us it will be a soggy holiday weekend.

"We've got some more wet and soggy weather on tap for our labor day weekend with this disturbance off in the Gulf of Mexico," Alexa said. "That will just bring us numerous showers and storms today and tomorrow."

And that rain could be enough to fill up some areas with standing water.

"There could be some isolated street flooding in a few spots, but make sure you drive carefully out there no matter what," Alexa said. "We'll have cloudy skies today. It's going to feel sticky and muggy but our high temperatures will only be in the mid-80s this afternoon."
