WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Town of Ware’s annual Memorial Day Parade saw people marching down Main Street to honor the country’s fallen heroes.

Even with the rain, the community marched from the American Legion to Veteran’s Park. The day started with a memorial ceremony at all of the local cemeteries throughout the town where they took the time to pray and show their appreciation to those who fought for the country.

Colonel John Pajak says this parade is huge for the town but the weather resulted in less people this year. He says despite the rain it was only right to keep the parade going and recognize the men and women who sacrificed so much for the country.

“All of our freedoms were secured,” remarked Col. Pajak. “There is a lot of people that never got to live a full life, you know they sacrificed on behalf of the country and we are here to honor them today.”

Colonel Pajak says veteran ceremonies like this is one way to make these local heroes feel special and appreciated. He says all of the veterans know someone who did not make it home, so it means a lot for them to be recognized in their community.
